About
just crashed!

Welcome to JUST CRASHED! No, this isn't a highly complex website with great expectations of being the next best thing. No, it's simply a page that started as a very basic PHP programming excercise which led to exploring the Twitter API, and well resulted in what you see.

Consider this v1.0 of the site which nicely uses the Twitter API to initially search for things that have 'just crashed', and also allows users to search for other things that have just crashed. The 'popular crashes' section is not automated yet (v2.0) and it is simply a listing of common items I noticed while building/testing the site. Part of v2.0 will be the storing of search terms in a database and then pulling out the top 10-20 items for use in the sidebar (securely & with a way to block garbage), and a few other ideas I'm currently digging into.

Ok but wait, isn't it a bit morbid searching for things that have just crashed? Well, it is if you think so. Consider it more like looking at a traffic accident as you drive by, or watching someone flip out when their computer has just crashed. You get to be the observer of events from the comfort of wherever you like.

Yes, the site is simple, yet there is a surprising amount of things you can do with the data provided from Twitter if you know how to do a bit of programming (which I'm learning).

Interested in helping out with v2.0? Got some useful code you think might do the trick? Drop me a note - tully DOT ca AT gmail.com
